SKIN CARE TIPS FOR DRY SKIN
This is how you know you have dry skin
We often find that dry skin, just like sensitive skin, requires a great deal of care. NIVEA has developed products for you to facilitate your daily care, because your skin care is individually formulated for your skin type. If you are not sure if you have dry skin or if you should be looking at one of the other skin types, take a close look at your face. Dry skin will have a flaky appearance as soon as it is not cared for or moisturised, for example. It also feels rough. Because it is sensitive, it is prone to redness. It often feels tight or itchy.
Get rid of the signs of everyday wear
Like any other skin type, dry skin also shows the signs of everyday wear. It is especially when the skin lacks moisture and lipids that it is particularly sensitive. When cleansing the skin, it is important not to exacerbate this condition. NIVEA is familiar with these characteristics and has designed special cleansing products for dry skin. We recommend that you apply lipid replenishing creams after cleansing in the evening. For optimal cleansing, skin should be rinsed as thoroughly as possible with lukewarm water.
Sufficient lipids will combat dryness
It is because of the lack of moisture that dry skin is so sensitive. NIVEA products address this problem. To best address dry skin, it is important to improve the skin’s ability to retain moisture. This can be done in particular by strengthening the skin’s natural protective barrier. Nurturing ingredients that add oils to the skin are especially beneficial to this protective barrier. It is therefore advisable to use skin care products containing oils during your morning and evening skin care routine. Additional moisturising products are also important.
In order to maintain its own (protective) functions, your skin generally requires both an optimum level of moisture and an intact (lipid) barrier. Depending on the skin type, it is therefore advisable to look for different care properties in your skin care products. Dry skin refers to skin that is lacking in both moisture and lipids.
Skin is rough and chapped with fine pores, it cracks easily and is often tight. Dry skin also becomes itchy easily and can be sensitive to temperature changes. Dry skin becomes a problem especially in air-conditioned rooms or in the winter. The skin lacks moisture and “fats” (skin lipids). In addition to providing the skin with the ideal moisturiser, it is therefore important to build up the skin’s protective lipid barrier again.
The best advice is to use a rich moisturiser that restores to the skin what it lacks – moisture & fats (lipids), which also ensure that the skin can then better retain the moisture it receives by strengthening the important barrier function.
In order to provide dry skin with sufficient moisture, we recommend that you use day and night care products that contain fats. Moisturising substances are particularly important. The drier your skin is, the richer the care product should be.
