Sustainability at Beiersdorf
What does early musical education have to do with skin care? For us, a lot. Ever since the founding of Beiersdorf, the “big picture” has always been part of the company culture. Our responsibility towards our employees, the community and the environment has always been equally important to us. Beiersdorf created a committee in 2005, which reports directly to the board of management, to strengthen sustainability, which we believe is our far-reaching responsibility.
The responsibility for social roots, long-term, measurable successes and the mindful use of resources and the protection of the environment are among the most important company values. Our pledge exceeds far beyond company gates and country borders. From Hamburg to Brazil, we uphold uniform standards around the globe with regard to our employees, neighbors, the environment and, of course, our customers. Our emphasis is three-tiered: economic, ecological and social responsibility.
Economic responsibility
By investing in research and advanced technologies we safeguard our long-term financial success and jobs at our locations. As an employer, Beiersdorf is aware of its responsibility towards its roughly 22,000 employees. After all, it is the employees that drive the company’s success. As a result, Beiersdorf voluntarily provides many benefits for a harmonious life-work balance for employees, ranging from company day-care centres to numerous training and continuing education measures as well as cultural and health programs.
Ecological responsibility
Active environmental protection is a firmly integrated company goal. Economical and efficient production, as well as the careful selection of raw materials, helps to achieve this goal. This means that all Beiersdorf products are tailored to the needs and wishes of the consumers; they are high-quality, reliable and well-tolerated. In addition, their life cycle from manufacture to disposal is as mindful of the environment as possible.
Social responsibility
Beiersdorf is also engaged in social projects in education, family and culture throughout the world. The goal is to improve the future prospects of young people. With its “Discovering Culture” program, Beiersdorf supports the MUS-E school project, a cooperation with the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, which is currently in 30 primary school classes in Hamburg, Germany, and 6 classes in Paris, Lyon and Strasbourg, France. The goal is to strengthen creativity, initiative and social skills of children by pairing them with artists. Other countries and projects will follow.
All activities around sustainability can be found in our annual sustainability report, which is available at www.Sustainability.Beiersdorf.com.
